Over the last half a decade thousands upon thousands of volunteers have given their time to provide people experiencing homelessness with warmth, companionship, and vital services at one of the toughest times of the year. This Christmas marks the 50 th anniversary of Crisis at Christmas. At Christmas and throughout the year, it helps people directly out of homelessness, and campaign for the social changes needed to solve it altogether. Most importantly, Christmas also introduces people to the year-round training, education and support Crisis can offer.Ĭrisis is the national charity for homeless people. Their Instagram page is here which you can also sponsor by downloading the QR code.Ĭrisis services over the festive period range from offering nutritional food and festive treats, wellbeing packs and entertainment activities to providing guidance, health support and befriending services to those experiencing homelessness. You can sponsor them here through Just Giving. "With support from people like Chris and Jon, we can give more people a Crisis Christmas and help them leave homelessness behind for good.” "We rely on wonderful creative fundraisers like them to be able to support people who have been forced onto the streets, into sofa surfing, or into a hostel with nowhere to call home and no-one to be with. ![]() Richard Lee, fundraising director at Crisis said: “We are so grateful to Chris and Jon and the local community of Compton for their extraordinary fundraising efforts. Last year we supported a local children’s hospice but this year we chose Crisis because supporting people experiencing homelessness matters." "We will be maintaining interest in fundraising by creating funny little posts on Instagram using the gingerbread people. Christmas is such a celebration of the home and it is heightened by the fact that so many people just don’t have one. Talking about their efforts this Christmas, Chris said: "We created an idealised Gingerbread house because it felt ironic when some people do not have a home to call their own. Not only does the gingerbread house raise a smile, it will remain there until January 6 and the money raised will help support Crisis and their Christmas services, which helps people experiencing homelessness access things like hot meals and a safe place to stay over the festive period. ![]() The phone box has been made into beautiful art installations over the years to support various causes.
